Russia

When I first saw this photo I thought how beautiful it was.

In later reading their fate I felt engrossed to read more; however the more I read the more upsetting it became.
British Labour Prime MinisteRamsay MacDonald attacked the Tsar, calling him a "blood-stained creature and a common murderer".
I can’t believe Nicholas II  (who was known as Saint Nicholas by the  Russian Orthodox Church) would have put his family in mortal danger in being what Ramsay Mac Donald claimed? I believe Nicholas II was a caring person that was influenced by people he trusted.

Anyway whatever the claims; there is no way whatsoever that his beautiful kids deserved to die...

Tsar Nicholas II and his family (poem)
Nicholas II and his wife Tsarina Alexandra
Grand Duchess Anastasia Nikolaevna of Russia
Both these pictures haunt me by tugging somewhat on the heartstrings; because I can't believe anyone can be so heartless.

President Boris Yeltsin described the killings as one of the most shameful pages in Russian history. For making such a public speech in 1998 Boris Yeltsin will always have my respect and admiration.

Tsar Nicholas II with his physically similar cousin, King George V

Emperor Nicholas II of Russia and King George V of the United Kingdom (right), wearing German military uniforms in Berlin before the war; 1913. Just to know that Russia and Britain once had a close bond is pretty awesome...
