Powys

Powys is my favourite county in Wales and although Machynlleth is my favourite town there are too many to mention that I respect. Welshpool is certainly one such town; about 5½ miles North West of Welshpool lies the small beautiful village of Berriew it was here where a friend and I joined the Berriew Angling Club in 1979. We had fished the River Rhiw since 1971 in the small village of Manafon approximately 5 miles South East of Berriew so really my heart is never far from this River. The river is known for flooding and the big flood at Manafon some years ago devastated the caravan site washing many vans and cars downstream. I recently found out that Berriew was hit hard with floods and I’ve noticed the tree-lined banks are bare, with work underway to repair the damage. I find it sad knowing I will never get to fish the river again however; I have some awesome memories to make up for it.
The River Rhiw literally rocks my heart

Llwyngwern Farm - River Dulas (North) A special thanks to the farmer/owner for allowing fishing
River Dovey is my favourite river although I haven't fished it I have walked along the banks and admired its beauty.
