Nail Knot Test

In testing the Nail knot in the normal tied position it removed the sheath so easy that I believe most people would have thought I had rigged it to do so. For the actual demonstration, I tied the nail knot well over 1" past the end of the fly line (or the equivalent distance of 4 joins ) so that it could be seen removing the sheath from the fly line when I pulled the mono.

I don't have to prove myself to anyone I do my own tests and never rely on anglers hearsay however experienced they might be; after all, it is often handed down from one Angler/Author to another without them actually doing any research themselves.

I would recommend anyone using this type of join to at least test it on the lines you are using because a monoline can easily remove the sheath on some fly lines especially the floating lines…
