George Martin was an English record producer and often refereed to as the "Fifth Beatle"  a statement made by Paul.  

I believe this video showing the meeting with Brian Wilson really characterises George's ear for music in Brian commenting near the end of the video. Brian Wilson was up there with the best song writers / record producers so for George to hear him make such a statement must have made him feel honoured.
