Where it began
I will always be indebted to a lost friend for introducing me to ledger fishing some years ago, my ledger rod has since been replaced by a fly rod, but my feeling towards the sport remains unchanged. Ledger fishing has enriched my life more than fly fishing could do alone, its combination of both that’s fulfilled it.

To those who knock our passion.
Every angler has the right to
choose from any type of fishing, be a fly on the surface or a lb of lead on the
bed, I’m sure a fishes natural diet does not include hooks and are unwelcome in
all forms of.
So many anglers turned authors
believe hooks must move to be worthy of the name fishing and make a point of
letting fellow anglers know it. Fishing began long before rod & reel was
invented and used only for a source of food, only with new findings gave the
time to make it a pastime it is today, and I think it is sad this time is now
used to knock ones passion. It’s quite easy to write a book, the hardest part
is filling it, I believe any author who says ledger fishing is dull and or
unsporting had a problem in doing so, surely not one fish in British waters
would agree with such a selfish statement when after all they do occasionally
get a meal without becoming one, and what can an artificial fly possibly do for
a hungry fish. With given sights worthy to be framed in our minds forever only
ignorance would call it dull…
Over the years I have created a few designs the
majority of which are fishing related. Some I have never used others have been
tested only, and ones I've always used 2 of which are sampled above...
The
leaf float is one of my favourite designs; simply because it helped me to
create the best design I’ve ever done in relation to fly fishing; that also
questions the reliability of the nail knot demonstrated in the About Fly Lines post...
